Fibre Optic Broadband, also known as Fibre to the Cabinet or FTTC for short, is BT's new method of delivering ultra-fast broadband speeds of up to 40Mb.
This new product consists of fibre optic connections between the exchange and the local street cabinets. The last "mile" from the cabinet to the home or office remains copper for now.
Exchanges are now currently being enabled for this service, and this will continue to roll out for the rest of 2012 and throughout 2013
